WPT LADIES BORGATA RECAP:

On Saturday, January 20th, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey, hosted the first tournament in the inaugural Season of World Poker Tour Ladies.  The event was a huge success, seeing 383 women put up $300 to compete, which created a $114,000 prize pool with $33,000 going to first place.  The atmosphere and player feedback was extremely positive, with the entire field clapping and cheering when World Poker Tour welcomed them to the first stop on the official WPTL.

After 18 solid hours of tournament play, outspoken Florida resident Regette “Reggie” Bechara took down the WPT Ladies title, $33,321, a pink WPT chipset, a Tag watch (provided by Borgata) and a $1500 seat into the WPT Ladies Championship.  Reggie added the WPT win to an impressive poker resume that features several other top cashes, including 76th place at the 2006 WSOP Ladies Tournament.

Local NBC Channel 4 came out to cover the event, touting a “change in the poker landscape” with WPT at the forefront.  The next WPT Ladies event will be held Feb. 2 -3rd at the Commerce Casino with a $970 buy-in.
