AMY SIEGEL, Editor in Chief

Hi, my name is Amy Siegel. I'm a mother of three and grandmother of a beautiful baby girl named Alexa. I'm a lawyer by profession having graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1996.  During my years in law school, I was a teaching assistant for first and second year students in Torts and Constitutional Law.  I also have an undergraduate degree in Economics.  I started playing poker approximately two years ago.  I used to spend a lot of time at my computer at night playing solitaire and exploring the internet.  The only thing I knew about poker back then was that my son, Bryan, used to play in a home game with his friends.  Being the uninformed person that I was then my only thoughts about his poker playing were that I hoped he wouldn't lose too much money.  My husband got me involved in the game after he told me about the son of a colleague who had just won over $600,000 playing poker.  I've always been very competitive.  I ran track on my high school boy's team and swam competitively as well.  So, I downloaded some software from Party Poker and plunged in.  Luckily, I only played at the play money tables because I had no clue about poker strategy.  But, I loved the rush it gave me.  I began reading books on poker and searching websites for poker content.  I finally switched to real money games after about six months.  I now also play a weekly home game with my son, Bryan, who I discovered is a very good hold'em player.  I play SNG and MTT as well as cash games at the lower limits.  Since I found Rick through his Poker Tester, watched his videos and become involved in the club I feel that my game has grown tremendously.  Playing at the lower limits may not amass vast earnings but I have taken many first and second place finishes in NL Hold'em tourneys in the last eight months.  I love playing MTTs, but up until now I had never gone the distance.  That changed recently when I placed 4th out of a field of 163 in a $2,000 NLHE tourney and 14th in another $2,000 tourney.  In the month of February 2008, I roughly seven satellite tournaments that awarded entries into the Absolute Aruba Classic (buy-in $530), the 75K weekly tournament (buy-in $162), the $150K weekly tournament (buy-in $530) and the WSOP Main Event Qualifier at Poker Stars.  I credit this improvement in my game to the videos, web-coaching events, tourneys and interaction with other players that I have acquired since becoming a member of RFC.  My biggest success story to date is that I was at a cash table when the bad beat hit at Absolute Poker and won approximately 10K.
